Privacy policy
Effective 22 October 2026
Fogato is a focus timer with a woodland cat. It can optionally cover apps you choose while a focus session is running. This policy explains what the Android and iOS apps access and what happens to it.

Summary
- Fogato has no accounts, no analytics, no advertising and no developer server.
- Everything Fogato stores stays on your phone, except purchase records handled by Google Play or Apple and your own device backup.
- App blocking is optional and needs your agreement in the app before anything is turned on.
App blocking (Accessibility service)
If you agree to the in-app disclosure and turn on Fogato in Android Settings → Accessibility:
- What is accessed: while a focus session you started is running, Android tells Fogato the package name (for example
com.example.app) of each app window that comes to the front. Outside sessions, Fogato asks Android for no app events. - Why: only to cover the apps you chose to block until your timer ends, and to record when you used the 5-minute unlock, which affects your cat in the game.
- What is never accessed: Fogato does not request permission to read window content. It does not read screen text, typing, passwords, messages or notifications, and does not take screenshots.
- Storage and sharing: the current session (blocked app names, unlock times, timer) is stored only on your phone and cleared after the session is settled. It is never uploaded, sold or shared.
- Your control: you can turn the service off anytime in Android Settings → Accessibility, or from Fogato's Settings → Turn off app blocking, which stops blocking and opens that Android screen for you. Android Settings can never be blocked, every cover offers a 5-minute unlock, and you can stop a session at any time. If you decline, Fogato works as a timer without blocking.
iOS app blocking (Screen Time)
If you agree to the iOS disclosure, Apple asks for individual Screen Time authorization and presents its own app, category and website picker. Fogato stores opaque tokens representing your choices on this phone, rather than resolving them to a readable app inventory. It does not read screen content, messages, typing or browsing history, and does not upload or share your selection.
During a focus session, native iOS shields cover your selection. Keep focusing closes the distracting app without recording an interruption. Take a 5-minute break temporarily unlocks the whole selection and records one interruption timestamp, which adds recoverable mess and reduces that session's work. The timer, encoded selection, break deadline and interruptions are stored locally in an App Group shared only by Fogato and its Screen Time extensions; the session is cleared after settlement. Your cat's name and a small picture of it are also stored there so the shield can show them. Your picker choices remain saved for future sessions until changed or the app's data is removed. Background expiry callbacks may be delayed by iOS.
You can stop the session or use Fogato Settings → Turn off app blocking to remove its shields immediately while preserving your timer/progress. You can revoke Screen Time access in iOS Settings at any time. Blocking is optional; timer-only play remains available. Revocation invalidates Apple's old tokens, so reconnect asks you to choose again.
Your app list
To let you choose apps to block, Fogato asks Android for the apps that appear on your home screen (name, icon, package name) when you open the app picker. After you agree to blocking setup, installed social-media apps are preselected for your review before Android Settings opens. You can add or remove any app. The installed-app list is shown on your phone and not stored. Only the package names you select are saved, on your phone.
Game data
Your cat's name and look, progress, focus history, settings and coin balance are stored on your phone in the app's private storage.
Purchases
If coin purchases are enabled, payments are processed by Google Play or Apple's App Store under their respective privacy policies. Fogato receives a purchase confirmation and transaction ID from the store, and stores the ID on your phone to avoid crediting a purchase twice. Fogato never sees your payment details.
If you choose to rate Fogato, your rating and review go directly to Google Play under Google's privacy policy. Fogato doesn't receive them; it only remembers on your phone that it has already asked.
Notifications
If you allow Android notifications, Fogato shows a local notification when a session ends. iOS completion notifications are not implemented. Nothing is sent to a server.
Backups
Android may include Fogato's private storage in your device backup to your Google account, according to your phone's backup settings. On iOS, your device backup may include Fogato's local data according to your Apple backup settings. Google or Apple handles the respective backup; Fogato's developer cannot access it.
Children
Fogato is not directed at children under 13.
Deleting your data
Uninstalling Fogato (Delete App on iOS, rather than Offload App), or clearing its storage in Android Settings → Apps → Fogato, removes its local app data. Device backups are managed separately in your Google or Apple backup settings. There is no account or server copy to delete.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be published at the same URL with a new effective date. If the in-app blocking disclosure changes materially, Fogato will ask for your agreement again.
